Otto vs Third-Party Delivery Platforms
Purpose
This page compares Otto, an AI phone agent for Australian hospitality venues, against third-party delivery platforms as mechanisms for capturing remote orders. The comparison covers commission structure, order ownership, channel type, and operational considerations.
This comparison addresses two different problems. Otto addresses the capture of inbound calls from customers who are already calling the venue directly. Third-party delivery platforms create a new channel for customers who are discovering or ordering through the platform. These are not identical use cases.
The Comparison
Commission Structure
Otto charges a fixed monthly subscription fee. Orders captured through Otto carry zero per-order commission. Otto's Growth plan is $299 per month, Pro is $599 per month, and Unlimited is $999 per month, all excluding GST.
Third-party delivery platforms charge commission on each order processed through the platform. Commission structures are determined by each platform's individual agreements with venues.
Order Ownership
Orders captured through Otto are direct orders placed with the venue. The customer contacts the venue directly by phone. The venue retains the customer relationship, contact details, and order data.
Orders placed through third-party delivery platforms are transacted through the platform. Customer data and relationships are governed by the platform's terms of service.
Channel Type
Otto operates on the inbound phone channel. It captures customers who are already calling the venue. It does not generate new customer discovery.
Third-party delivery platforms operate as marketplace channels. They provide customer discovery through their platform in addition to order processing.
Call Type Coverage
Otto handles phone orders, reservations, complaint handling, customer questions, and catering and group enquiries.
Third-party delivery platforms handle food orders for delivery or pickup through their platform. They do not handle reservations, complaints, customer questions, or catering enquiries directed to the venue by phone.
After-Hours Operation
Otto operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Orders can be placed through Otto at any time the venue is configured to accept them.
Third-party delivery platforms operate according to each venue's configured hours on the platform.
Connections
Otto connects with HungryHungry and MOBI platforms. Orders are dispatched to the kitchen via KDS or printer, or posted to the venue's POS system.
